Activate OfeliaScan¶
OfeliaScan is the Android companion app for BibliOfelia. Once installed and paired with your Ofelia Box, it lets you scan barcodes from a phone and send the result directly to BibliOfelia on the computer.
The camera is now built into the site
You no longer need OfeliaScan for everyday scans: the Scan buttons on the site open the browser camera directly (see Scanning with the camera). OfeliaScan remains useful as a mobile complement, in particular for sending large batches of cataloguing or inventory.
When to use it?¶
- Inventory: walking the stacks without pushing a workstation with a scanner
- Cataloging: registering books in series from an arrival crate
- When your scanner is broken: OfeliaScan saves the day with a smartphone
Install OfeliaScan¶
The app installs from:
- The Android Play Store (search for "OfeliaScan")
- Or by direct download from your Ofelia Box if you don't have the Play Store
Ask the Box administrator for the exact installation procedure.
Pair the phone¶
Once OfeliaScan is installed, you need to connect it to your Box (to do once only).
- On the computer, open BibliOfelia and go to Advanced → OfeliaScan access
- A QR code is displayed on screen
- On the phone, open OfeliaScan and tap Pair
- Point the camera at the QR code
- Pairing is confirmed on both screens
The phone is now linked to your Box. It will remember on each use.
Several phones, one Box
Several librarians can pair their phone to the same Box. Each sees their own scans in BibliOfelia.
